NRL player Troy Dargan, aged 26, tragically passes away after motorcycle accident

Canberra Raiders utility and former South Sydney Rabbitoh Troy Dargan has passed away at the age of 26.

The tragic news was released through a statement on social media from Aria Management Group, who Dargan was a client of.

The statement said that Dargan had died after a motorcycle accident in the Cook Islands, where he was holidaying.

“On behalf of the Dargan family, it is with a heavy heart that we share the news of TJ’s tragic passing over night [sic],” the statement read.

“He and his family were holidaying in the Cook Island where TJ was involved in a motorcycle accident. TJ was not only an @ariasportsgroup client but a long time friend and great mate.

“He is currently a Canberra Raider and formerly a member of the Manly Sea Eagles, Souths Rabbitohs, Brisbane Broncos and Parramatta Eels. TJ is a beloved son to Troy and Wendy, loving brother to Tamalee and Korokai, and friend to many others.

“The family have asked for privacy at this very devastating time. TJ will he [sic] greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

Dargan made his NRL debut with the Rabbitohs in 2020, playing two games for Souths that season.

The utility played six games for the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles in the NSW Cup in 2023 before signing a supplementary contract with the Raiders last month.

Dargan, who played 77 games in reserve grade across the NSW Cup and Queensland Cup also had stints at the Brisbane Broncos and Parramatta Eels.

Dargan, who was of Cook Islander and Indigenous descent, also played two Test matches for the Cook Islands.
