Disgruntled Tigers flyer returns to training after lodging formal complaint over club treatment

Tigers winger David Nofoaluma has reportedly returned to club training after claiming he was treated unfairly by officials during pre-season.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting the 30-year-old lodged an officials complaint with the RLPA over the club’s alleged misconduct.

However, he has since returned to training without taking part in the Monday session due to an ongoing calf injury.

The SMH originally reported Nofoaluma struggled physically at training when he returned last month and recorded a disappointing time trial result.

He was reportedly beaten by some of the Tigers’ hulking middle forwards.

That led to the club’s officials being unimpressed with his fitness levels amid a higher standard set by new-look coaching staff.

Nofoaluma also reportedly complained about lack of communication and training methods put in place to improve his fitness.

As it stands, the two parties reportedly remain at odds over the winger’s attitude with teammates reportedly hopeful he departs.

A number of teammates also privately believe Nofoaluma should be training at a higher standard.

Nofoaluma has played 192 of his 198 NRL games with the Tigers over the last 11 seasons. He is the club’s all-time leading tryscorer.

News Corp is also reporting that the winger wants to remain in Leichhardt despite the Tigers’ attempts to offload him.

Nofoaluma is reportedly earning close to $500,000 per-season and has two years remaining on his current contract.

In 2022, the winger also played six games for the Storm on a loan deal before returning to play under Tim Sheens in 2023.
