2023 KNOCKOUT OUT OF THE YEAR NOMINEES (vote below)

BRANDON GRACH vs LIAM TALIVAA

Aussie heavyweight Grach delivered an instant “knockout of the year” contender in just his second pro bout, sleeping his opponent with a monstrous left hand jab.

US boxing great Shawn Porter perhaps summed it up best with his unfiltered reaction: “Oh sh*t. I’ve gotta say that. I’m sorry. Sue me, fine me: Oh sh*t.”

KO of the year: Grach v Talivaa | 00:49

MARK SCHLEIBS vs SHAMAL RAM ANUJ

Grach’s finish wasn’t the only monster KO on the recent Nikita Tszyu vs Dylan Biggs card, with Schleibs producing this vicious shot to secure his first win since 2019.

Commentator Barry Michael called it “one of the best knockouts I’ve seen in ages” while Billy Dib added: “That has to be knockout of the year”.

KO of the year: Schleibs v Ram Anuj | 00:30

TIM TSZYU vs CARLOS OCAMPO

Tszyu delivered perhaps the biggest statement of his career by demolishing Mexican Ocampo with a staggering first-round knockout to retain his interim world title belt.

Making the performance even more remarkable was the fact Ocampo had only been stopped once in his career before, by unbeaten superstar Errol Spence Jr.

KO of the year: Tszyu v Ocampo | 01:08

TIM TSZYU vs TONY HARRISON

Prior to beating Ocampo, Tszyu faced the biggest test — and risk of his career — by taking on American star Harrison — by far the classiest opponent he had stepped into the ring with at that point.

Tszyu’s ninth-round finish was absolutely brutal and made waves around the world as the Sydneysider emphatically declared to his rivals post-fight “What’s my motherf***ing name?”

KO of the year: Tszyu v Harrison | 01:10

NIKITA TSZYU vs BEN BOMMBER

Nikita Tszyu faced a legitimate test against the previously unbeaten Bommber but delivered a terrifying performance as he destroyed his rival inside a round.

Tszyu summed up the performance with this frightening post-fight admission: “If I see someone wounded, I want to hurt them. It’s just instincts.”

KO of the year: Nikita vs Bommber | 00:39

LIAM TALIVAA vs ISAAC LIKI

Before being on the wrong end of a KO of the year nominee against Grach, Talivaa delivered his own contender while fighting on the Tszyu v Ocampo undercard on the Gold Coast.

Talivaa delivered a hammer left-handed blow on his rival in the first round to take his professional career record to 5-0.

KO of the year: Talivaa v Liki | 00:35
