Just when we thought iconic actor and wrestling legend John Cena had done it all, the American superstar has managed to add another achievement to his list.
Cena, who is known as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, has one-upped himself after breaking the world record for granting the most wishes through the Make-A-Wish foundation.
The Australian non-for-profit organisation helps fulfil the wishes of children aged between two to 18 who have been diagnosed with a critical illness.
Most wishes include the opportunity to meet a celebrity, go to an event or gift their wish to somebody else.
What makes the WWE legend so special is the fact that he has earned the title of the most requested celebrity, after granting 650 children visits over his lifetime.
The Guinness World Records has declared that this is the most wishes anyone has granted over four decades of the foundation’s existence, with no one ever surpassing 200 wishes.
The 16-time world champion granted his first wish in 2002, before giving the foundation’s 1000th wish to a fan named Cardon a decade later.
Cena told Reuters back when he gifted his 500th wish that he’s always willing to “drop everything” to help bring joy to a child in need.
“If I can offer a fantastic experience, I’ll be first in line to do my part,” he said.
For those wondering what meeting a legend like Cena is like, the Make-A-Wish foundation said children usually get the chance to snap a photo with the wrestling icon before spending some one-on-one time with him.
On other occasions, children have been given the opportunity to venture inside the ring with Cena while others have the chance to hold one of his championship belts.
Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez and Samuel L. Jackson are among some of the other celebrities known for granting several wishes.
