‘Human bulldozer’: Panthers gun’s ‘play of the season’ as Souths slammed over bizarre snub

Panthers flyer Brian To’o has produced the “play of the season” with a 70-metre try, bulldozing Rabbitohs playmaker Cody Walker to leave four players in his wake.

With 30 seconds remaining in the first half, the Rabbitohs charged to the right side of the field before Campbell Graham dropped the ball into the path of To’o who streaked away.

Both Cody Walker and Damien Cook looked certainties to stop his break, but with an effort Fox League’s Michael Ennis likened to All Blacks barnstorming winger Jonah Lomu, To’o bumped off the cover tackle.

Preliminary Final

A stumbling Walker than tripped Cook, who in his attempts to evade his five-eighth cut off young gun Lachlan Ilias who was giving chase — but he could only look on as To’o crossed to level the scores 12-all at halftime.

“He bulldozes over, Brian To’o on the stroke of halftime, incredible,” Fox League’s Dan Ginnane said.

“Shades of Jonah Lomu, just streaking down the far flank, and Brian To’o, he had three South Sydney defenders coming across, I don’t know how he did it,” Ennis said.

“He just leans and twists his body into Cody Walker, shrugs him off… here comes Walker, bang, just launches his right shoulder.

“Brian To’o is going to get the Panthers all level at halftime, can you believe it?

“That is an incredible solo try, that is a wonderful solo try from Brian To’o.”

“The man is a human bulldozer,” Ginnane said.

Fox League’s Braith Anasta was left shocked by the Rabbitohs tactics, opting to go for a try instead of kicking a field-goal to take a seven-point lead.

But instead, the Panthers were able to score two tries within four minutes to drag themselves back into the contest.

“I couldn’t believe that Souths didn’t set up for a field goal on the stroke of halftime, get a seven-point lead and go into halftime in control,” Anasta said.

“Should have gone for the one point, Brian To’o, what a ballrunner he is,” Parker said.

“Has Cody Walker come across in hot pursuit, bumps him off, in turn makes Damien Cook stumble across himself for what could be the play of the season for himself.”

“He literally uses Cody Walker and roadkill, get that into you and see you later,” Cronk said.

“Two tries in the last four minutes, game on.”
