Eagles coach set to quit one week after comments that stunned AFLW world

West Coast Eagles AFLW coach Michael Prior is set to announce his resignation after three years in the role.

CODE Sports’ Eliza Reilly reports Prior will step down on Wednesday despite the club’s upset win over Essendon on Sunday.

Prior made headlines the week before when he complained about his side having to play the reigning premiers as part of the league’s fixture.

He apologised for his comments in the aftermath, while he also apologised last year after making comments over the Eagles’ decision to not produce a pride jumper.

Prior’s time at the helm has resulted in five wins from 18 games, with the side having not won more than two games in a season since it entered the competition in 2020.

The report says Eagles powerbrokers have decided Prior has lost the players and as a result needs to move on as coach.

West Coast sits two games clear of bottom-placed Western Bulldogs with two rounds remaining of the regular season.
