Dogs star Addo-Carr set to cop ban for role in wild footy brawl

Josh Addo-Carr is set to be hit with a two-game suspension for his role in a brawl at the Koori Knockout and will be replaced in the Australian squad by Penrith star Dylan Edwards.

The two-game sanction comes after the NRL spoke to Addo-Carr on Wednesday as a part of their investigation into the fight at the Central Coast footy carnival according to the SMH.

In footage taken of the incident, the Bulldogs flyer is seen throwing a punch at a rival player.

The winger will be allowed the opportunity to respond and challenge the decision in the coming days.

The ban has yet to be officially announced by the NRL as under the new collective bargaining agreement, the league can’t proclaim their punishment until after the player has had five days to respond.

Edwards’ inclusion in Australia’s squad for the upcoming Pacific Championships is a deserved reward for the hardworking and underrated fullback, who was one of Penrith’s best in their 26-24 grand final win over the Broncos.

Three Panthers (Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo, Nathan Cleary) were named in the initial 21-man squad on Tuesday, but Cleary has since been ruled out with a knee injury. He has been replaced by Sharks star Nicho Hynes.

The inaugural Pacific Championships kicks off on Saturday, October 14 when Australia take on Samoa in Townsville.
