England’s female players deserve equal rights now, Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) chief executive Maheta Molango has said, telling the Trades Union Congress (TUC) on Tuesday that the disparity in treatment of men and women “simply isn’t acceptable.”
The PFA is the players’ union for all current and former professional footballers in England and Wales.

Molango told the TUC, the largest trade union event in the UK, that greater player involvement in decision-making is key to improving gender equality in the sport.
“Our members need to be central to this process – shaping the future of the game both for those who play now, and for those who will follow in their footsteps,” Molango said in Liverpool.
“A seat at the table is no use when the decisions have already been made.”
