The first key domino has fallen in Essendon’s off-season shake-up, with experienced assistant and current VFL coach Leigh Tudor set to depart.
Foxfooty.com.au has confirmed that Tudor, who’s been at the Bombers since the end of 2019, won’t be at Tullamarine in 2024.
Tudor has had previous stints at Geelong, St Kilda, Sydney and North Melbourne, where he previously worked under Bombers coach Brad Scott.

It comes after a dire season for the Bombers’ VFL side, finishing 17th of 21 teams on the ladder with a 5-13 record.
Veteran journalist Caroline Wilson this week forecasted “big changes” to the Bombers footy department after a drastic fall from grace to finish the season as Scott embarks on his full off-season at the club.
The Bombers have already announced the delistings of Cian McBride, Rhett Montgomerie and Alastair Lord, while James Stewart will also reportedly be let go despite having a year to run on his contract.
It follows the retirements of Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti and Andrew Phillips.
Tudor’s department might’nt be the only movement in Essendon’s coaching ranks, with assistant coach Daniel Giansiracusa among the final group of candidates for Richmond’s senior vacancy left by Damien Hardwick.
Essendon earlier this month already confirmed footy boss Josh Mahoney would depart the club after three years, with current head of performance Daniel McPherson favoured to fill the vacancy.
