Two of the big late-season improvers will battle it out on Saturday afternoon when Hawthorn hosts Fremantle at the MCG, with both teams looking to continue their impressive recent form.
The Hawks (7-15, 81.2%) have won three of their past six games, with close losses to Richmond and Melbourne also suggesting Sam Mitchell’s side could be a threat in 2024.
The Dockers (9-13, 93%) have won two of their past four matches, with their two defeats also narrow margins against top-four sides Brisbane and Port Adelaide. But Melbourne — which holds the Dockers’ first-round pick as a result of last year’s Luke Jackson trade — will be hoping Fremantle loses, as it could mean the Dees end up with Pick 4, rather than Pick 5, in this year’s draft — depending on what happens in the Kangaroos-Suns game.
