Seven stars and a mixed relay team will look to break Australia’s record of 13 gold medals at the World Swimming Championships on the second-last day of competition in Fukuoka, Japan.
As it stands, Australia are just three gold medals shy of equalling the historic achievement of the 2001 team which featured the likes of Ian Thorpe, Petria Thomas and Grant Hackett.

But with two days to go and plenty more finals to come, there’s every chance this Australian contingent can write their names into the history books.
Cameron McEvoy and Isaac Cooper will be battling it out for first place in the men’s 50m freestyle final, the first medal event featuring an Australian swimmer this evening.
Matthew Temple will take to the pool almost 30 minutes later in the men’s 100m butterfly final.
Two Aussies will contest for gold in the women’s 200m backstroke final in the form of Kaylee McKeown and Jenna Forrester.
