Pies duo involved in car crash as Sydney prelim plans thrown into chaos

Collingwood players Beau McCreery and Josh Carmichael are still set to travel to Sydney for Saturday’s preliminary final despite being involved in a car accident on Friday.

McCreery and Carmichael were involved in the accident with another vehicle while travelling to the airport.

The former was named in the starting 22 for the clash with the Swans, while the latter is in the squad.

Preliminary Final

“The welfare of Beau, Josh and the driver of the other vehicle remains the absolute priority,” Collingwood football boss Graham Wright said in a statement on Friday.

“Neither Beau nor Josh sustained any injuries, and we will provide them with the support required in this situation.”

McCreery’s forward-half pressure has been a staple of the Collingwood side this season.

Carmichael has played seven games this season and was the unused medical sub in last week’s semi-final win over Fremantle.
