Miami nice
The Heat have stormed back into the contest with the Celts calling a time-out with 2:34 left.
Miami are on an 11-2 run with Jimmy Butler landing back-to-back buckets after a Max Strus three. Heat 15-11
Teamwork makes the dream work
Heat ice cold
Miami are struggling at the offensive end big time.
It’s still 9-4 after a Boston time-out with 6:53 left in the first quarter. The Heat have landed just two of their 11 field goal attempts.
Boston start strongly
Jaylen Brown has drained a couple of mid-range jump-shots and added a lay-up to give the Celtics the early advantage. Celtics 9-4
Tip-off
We are under way. Boston take the first possession and there’s early drama.
Celtics star Jayson Tatum rolled his left ankle after landing awkwardly following a blocking foul by Miami’s Gabe Vincent.
He shook it off to knock down one of his two free throws. Celtics 1-0
Tip-off coming …
In a precursor for State of Origin fans on Wednesday night, the start of this match won’t quite be at the advertised time. Players have completed their warm-ups but any action is still a few minutes away.
Booby prize awaits
The winner of this game will advance to the NBA Finals where the rested and red-hot Denver Nuggets will be waiting for them.
Denver star Nikola Jokic tallied 30 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists when they advanced to their first ever finals a week ago after sweeping the Western Conference finals with a 113-111 victory over the Lakers in Los Angeles.
A rare club
The elite club of teams that have come back from 0-3 down to win a series contains just three members.
The 1951 New York Knicks did it in the NBA Finals, the 1994 Nuggets accomplished the feat in the second round and the 2003 Portland Trail Blazers were the last team to do so when they survived in the first round.
They all did it on the road but Boston this time around have home-court advantage.
Game 6 gonna be hard to top
Game six, wow.
For anyone who didn’t see the amazing scenes in game six, the Celtics won 104-103 with 0.1 seconds to spare when Derrick White just put tha ball in the basket on an offensive rebound after Marcus Smart missed a game-winning three-pointer.
“Just happy we won,” White said. “Whatever it takes.”
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra put on a brave face after the loss.
“I don’t know how we’re going to get this done, but we’re going to go out there and get it done,” Spoelstra said.
“And that’s what the next 48 hours is about. There’s been nothing easy about this season for our group, and so we just have to do it the hard way.
“It’s a seven-game series.
“There’s nothing better than Game 7s.”
We’re going to game seven, baby
It’s nearly time for game seven of the Eastern Conference finals to decide who faces Denver for the NBA title.
Tip-off is at 10.30am AEST at Boston with the Celtics trying to claim a slice of history by becoming the first team in NBA history to successfully come back from a 3-0 series deficit.
Miami have the weight of history on their side – the previous 150 teams that led a series 3-0 went on to win.
