The AFL’s most efficient ruckman Marc Pittonet will remain at Ikon Park until at least 2027, signing a contract extension with Carlton just days after playing his 50th AFL game.
Twenty-six-year-old Pittonet was drafted into the league at pick No.50 in 2014, where he played seven senior matches for the Hawks. He first joined Carlton in 2020 in a trade for picks No.54 and 63.
“Since arriving at Carlton, Marc has developed into an integral player for our side and continues to relish every opportunity given to him,” Blues list boss Nick Austin said.
Pittonet ranks No.1 in hitouts to advantage, managing a rating of 19.38 per cent from 289 ruck contests.
His signing is a boost for the Blues as their run of losses continues.
The Blues, expected by many pundits and club insiders to end a decade-long finals drought this year, have slipped to 11th on the ladder following their 28 point loss to Collingwood.
“The new deal is well-deserved recognition of the incredible amount of hard work Marc has put in to grow his game, and a testament to his dedication, to not only his ruck craft but also to the club.
“Marc not only plays a crucial role on-field, but his leadership and contribution off the field is really evident and appreciated by those around him.
“We cannot wait to see what the future holds for Marc and we are really pleased he will remain at the Carlton Football Club until 2027.”
