A school bus and a truck have crashed, with reports several students are trapped

Over 20 school children have been taken to hospital after a school bus and truck crashed and left them trapped on board.

Emergency services have rushed to the scene at the corner of Exford and Murphys Rd in Eynesbury on Melbourne’s western fringe at about 3:40pm.

The bus had rolled on its side as a result of the collision, trapping those on board.

An adult and 21 children have bene treated by paramedics and transported to hospital after the collision.

“Six patients have been transported to hospital with serious traumatic injuries and another 16 injured patients taken to hospital in a stable condition,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.

“Paramedics are assessing a further 25 people at the scene who at this stage do not appear to require transport to hospital.”

Photos from the scene show dozens of emergency workers freeing those trapped on board through an emergency exit.

The accident happened close to Exford Primary School about 3.45pm.

“Investigators believe at this stage the collision occurred about 3.40pm and the bus was carrying up to 45 children,” a Victoria Police statement.

“At this stage most of the children have been removed from the bus and are being treated by ambulance services.”
