Jason Day is close to ending a five-year winless drought on the PGA Tour, leading the AT&T Byron Nelson with just five holes to go.
A brilliant chip-in for birdie at the 12th hole moved the Australian to 20-under par, one ahead of world No.2 Scottie Scheffler and five others at 19-under, including Adam Scott.
Day made two more birdies at No.14 and No.15 which put daylight between himself and Scheffler with just three holes to go, although CT Pan is in the clubhouse at 21-under.
Day, who suffered a series of injury setbacks and needed to re-build his swing, has not won on Tour since the Wells Fargo in May 2018.

He has, however, been in vastly improved form this season, which has included six top-10 finishes.
A win now would be good timing too with the year’s second-major, the PGA Championship, taking place this weekend.
The winner at the Byron Nelson takes home a cheque of $1,710,000 (A$2.6m).
