Curnow is on the board
Carlton key forward and lively frontman Charlie Curnow has kicked his first for the night.
It came from a 50 metre penalty awarded to Jack Silvagni, who moved the ball quickly into the Blues’ forward arc.
Brisbane lead by 7-points.
Daniher with Lions’ third
Joe Daniher has kicked a monster 55 metre goal to put the Lions up by14-points.
It gives the away team an early lead, but both teams are looking ferocious in this opening quarter.
Docherty answers in game 150, Brissie reply
Carlton’s Sam Docherty answered Brisbane’s early goal by kicking the first major for Carlton, and to a huge applause.
It then had a reply from the Lions just moments later from Jack Gunston.
This one could be a high-scoring affair as both teams are starting hot.

150 for Sam Docherty
You’d be hard-pressed to find a footy fan who didn’t have, at the very least, a soft spot for Sam Docherty.
The Blues defender started his AFL career at Brisbane and is set to play his 150th game tonight against his old side.

His journey is one that has defied the odds, having publicly battled testicular cancer twice, with a third scare.
His comeback carried with a lot of emotion, reaching beyond the club and fans to the wider AFL community.
The 29-year-old’s career has included All-Australian honours, a co-captainship and a John Nicholls Medal.
Tonight another significant milestone is achieved – and one countless fans of the sport can get around at that.

In case you missed it from yesterday, Carlton coach Michael Voss disagreed with AFLPA president Patrick Dangerfield, who said he’d like Tasmania to have access to contracted players.
Voss said the new club should be able to poach only uncontracted footballers.
Speculation on what list concessions the new Tasmanian team – likely to enter the competition in 2028 – will receive have ramped up since the league awarded the state the 19th licence on Wednesday.

The AFL’s wish for Tasmania to be competitive far quicker than Gold Coast and GWS were was at the heart of Dangerfield’s proposal for one contracted player per club to be up for grabs.
“It’s pointless having contracts then. I would have thought contracted players are contracted players. If they’re available to be taken out of contract, then it’s fair game,” Voss said.
“But that’s the environment we live in. I would argue that under the current trading system that players who are contracted are still getting to the team they wish to go to, any way.”
AFL round eight teams and expert tips
Our AFL expert tips are in for round eight.
There’s a pretty decent split for tonight’s match, but then a lot of agreeance for the rest of the weekend.
Notably, only one expert tipped Hawthorn and Essendon, while two went with Sydney over the much-preferred Collingwood.
