Broncos boss Ben Ikin could depart the Red Hill club within weeks, leaving the Brisbane club without a head of football midway through the 2023 season.
According to The Courier Mail, Ikin will reportedly be interviewed by the Queensland Rugby League on Wednesday to take over the organisation’s chief executive role.
Ikin is reportedly the frontrunner for the QRL job after he previously ruled himself out of the race.

“I’m committed to helping ‘Kev’ (coach Walters) get the Broncos firing again,” Ikin said after Rohan Sawyer left to pursue a new career opportunity.
The QRL reportedly had a 70-man shortlist which has been reduced to only four, with the remaining candidates interviewing for the role in the coming days.
Ikin is said to have had a change of heart that could see him leave his post at the Broncos unmanned.
Broncos powerbrokers are reportedly aware of his potential exit after Ikin was appointed head of football in June 2021.
Ikin could be announced as the QRL’s next chief executive as soon as next week and would take over ahead of the 2023 Origin series.

“We are looking for a football person,” QRL chairman Bruce Hatcher said to News Corp.
“Whoever gets the job will have to notify us of their notice period.
“The contingency plan was no rush, no panic. We have Rob Moore as interim CEO and he is a very safe pair of hands. He has done the job before and he is available until the end of August, so the successful candidate would have to give between a month and three months’ notice.
“Our role in the game is from the grassroots to sub-elite, which is the Hostplus Cup, and the contribution those teams make to the NRL is significant.
“We have to do our job in the business of rugby league so there’s no doubt we are after some good football leadership from our new CEO.”
