Embattled Dragons coach Anthony Griffin has stepped in and dismissed a question about his future directed at club captain Ben Hunt.
Hunt was asked if he was concerned for Griffin after St George Illawarra dropped their fourth straight game on Sunday night.
“It’s been raised before we even kicked a ball this season,” Hunt said in the Dragons post-match press conference.
Griffin then interjected, “I don’t think you need to get him to answer anything like that.
“He’s answered that enough.”
The 18-16 loss to the Bulldogs means the Dragons sit in 15th on the NRL ladder, with just two wins and six defeats at the end of Round 9.
Heartbreakingly, the Dragons have now lost their last four by a combined margin of just 11 points.
Griffin says it’s “terribly frustrating” that his side has failed to be on the right side of the close games.
“I thought today was totally different to Tuesday. We were a bit loose on our kick chase,” Griffin said.
“We had a couple of opportunities in the second half where we had them trapped but we just couldn’t do it.
“We just got beat a couple of times in our own end when we should have been applying pressure down there
“They’ve run 70-80 metres twice and that was the game.”
