Wild scenes as Koepka makes hole-in-one on LIV party hole

They’d waited all week for the chance to see a hole-in-one, and LIV Golf’s party hole got what it wanted as fans showered beer cups on Chase Koepka after he scored an ace at Grange Golf Club.

Koepka, the younger brother of four-time major winner and Masters runner-up Brooks, threw his club to the ground during his celebration, before chest bumping playing partners Paul Casey and Ian Poulter after his ball trickled into the hole.

It sparked wild scenes on the par-three 12th, which has been the designated “watering hole” for fans all week, as patrons replicated the famous 16th at Phoenix for the PGA Tour’s Waste Management Open.

Cleaners were forced to quickly pick up the rubbish which had been thrown onto the tee box to allow the next group to play the hole.

Casey, himself, almost scored a hole-in-one at the same location on Saturday when his tee shot lipped out.

“I love the hole, I think it’s great,” Casey said. “I actually practise with music when I’m at home. The crowd goes bananas.

“It’s a tricky one to be totally dialled in, I’ll be honest. But I wouldn’t change it any other way. The only downside is we can’t see the bottom of the flag. I looked at the crowd and the arms were up, then they were down. I would have loved to have had one.

“I’ve had a few holes-in-one, but I wanted one for the whole LIV Adelaide.”

Koepka made sure the crowd didn’t go home disappointed, with all players walking to the tee with backing music of their own choice.

It’s the third straight day Greg Norman’s Saudi-backed LIV Golf event has been sold out in its first Australian foray, prompting a push for a second event Down Under as soon as next year.
