‘I do hear it’: Horne-Francis on the boos, leaving North and why he came home
By Caroline Wilson
It was late last Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval, long after the final siren and the waterlogged on-field embrace between player and coach and Ken Hinkley’s emotional line-in-the-sand media conference, that Jason Horne-Francis chose his moment.
As the Port Adelaide rooms emptied and the jubilation settled, the young footballer went to the coaches’ room and told Hinkley how much he appreciated him and his public gesture after the game.
“After that game I wanted to go and thank him for everything he said to me during the game and what he did after the game,” said Horne-Francis.

Footy crowds need to cut down on the boos
By Greg Baum
Victoria set South Australia a stiff but gettable last-day target in a Sheffield Shield match at the MCG many years ago, but when opener Andrew Hilditch was 2 not out at the first drinks break, it was plain that the SACAs had reneged on the chase.
This was too much for a certain young cricket writer of the time, who threw down his pen, marched around to the almost empty outer, tore off his shirt and spent four cathartic hours booing and sledging Hilditch before composing himself, re-dressing and presenting as the soul of professional politeness at the post-match media conference.
There’s booing and there’s booing.

‘Best player in the comp’: Why Jeremy Cameron is flawless
By Peter Ryan
Jeremy Cameron’s golf handicap now sits at about six according to his playing partner Brad Close, after the friends played a round of golf with fellow teammates Jack Bowes and Cam Guthrie at Thirteenth Beach on Wednesday.
That’s the same handicap Cameron had as a 14-year-old, built up in the years before he first kicked a football around Dartmoor, in Victoria’s south-west, at the age of 15, despite spending a year playing golf with right-handed clubs before realising he was left-handed.
“He’s good, he’s very good,” Close said after Cameron scored 40 Stableford points to beat Guthrie on 39.

Dogs find bark in Perth, as heat mounts on Dockers
By Damien Ractliffe
In case you missed it last night, Fremantle’s season is hanging by a thread after the Western Bulldogs exacted retribution for being bundled out of finals last year, winning at Optus Stadium by 49 points.
Neither side had set the world alight going into the round six opener, but the Dockers have now slumped to 2-4 with a daunting trip to Brisbane next weekend threatening to put a substantial dent in their quest to return to finals.
The Dogs failed to maintain the rage in the second half of their elimination final last year, but learnt the lessons from that loss to well and truly earn Friday night’s win, opening the floodgates in the final term to win comfortably in the end.

Today’s milestones
Trent McKenzie (PA) – 150 games
Zac Bailey (BL) – 100 games
Greetings, everybody
By Ronny Lerner
Hello everyone and welcome to our rolling live coverage of all of today’s AFL action.
With games spread across five days for Anzac Round, there are just the three matches on today.
First off, the in-form Power host the injury-ravaged Eagles at Adelaide Oval, and in the twilight match, GWS face the daunting task of the Brisbane Lions in Canberra.
The best is saved for last with a grand final rematch between Geelong and Sydney at Kardinia Park for the night match.
That game will not only serve as the Cats’ first at their home ground for the year, but they will also unfurl their 2022 premiership flag against the Swans, who they smashed by 81 points in last year’s premiership decider.
