Roosters star Angus Crichton is poised to make his long-awaited NRL return on Anzac Day.
Crichton played his first game since being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in a low-key return against Newtown in the NSW Cup on Saturday. Having come through the Henson Park encounter – his first since the Rugby League World Cup final – without incident, the NSW and Australia forward has been pencilled in for Tuesday’s clash against the Dragons.
Crichton’s participation hinges on him being in a good place mentally and physically. The early indications are he will be available. It will be a timely boost for Trent Robinson’s side after Nat Butcher was suspended for a week for a hip-drop tackle on Briton Nikora in the game against the Sharks.
There could be other changes to Robinson’s squad; Sam Walker faces the prospect of being dropped, while Paul Momirovski is likely to get a call-up after coming through reserve grade with no ill effects from the concussion issues that sidelined him at the start of the season.
Joey Manu is expected to shift from the centres to five-eighth as the tri-colours attempt to regroup after two straight losses.
