AFL reveals SEVEN stars to be chased by rivals as full list of free agents revealed

The AFL has released the list of remaining restricted and unrestricted free agents in the competition.

Seven players are restricted free agents and without contracts for 2024 and beyond, headlined by Essendon midfielder Darcy Parish and North Melbourne defender Ben McKay.

Richmond has the most unrestricted free agents, with its eight players in that category including star veterans Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt.

Sydney Swans spearhead Lance Franklin also qualifies as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career at age 36.

Some players listed by the AFL as free agents have already agreed to new deals – such as Collingwood pair Jack Crisp and Jeremy Howe – but remain listed as free agents until contracts are officially lodged in the AFL system.

The AFL added some players’ free agency status could change later in the year depending on the final figure for total player payments.

A restricted free agent is an out-of-contract player who has played nine or fewer years with their current club and is in the top quarter for salaries at the club.

An unrestricted free agent is a player who has played eight or nine years with their club, is out-of-contract and not in the top quarter of salaries at their club, or an out-of-contract player who has played 10 or more years with their club.
