Tigers star’s nervous wait as Blues gun cops ban, set to miss crucial clash

Blues star forward Harry McKay has been offered a one-match ban for his late hit on Harry Sheezel in Friday’s clash with North Melbourne.

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the Marvel Stadium match, with McKay striking Sheezel late after the Roos young gun had disposed of the footy. Sheezel played on after the collision.

It was graded as graded as careless, medium impact and high contact, while the Blues have until 11am Monday to respond to the charge.

Round 4

If the ban is upheld, McKay would miss Carlton’s meeting with Adelaide next Thursday night at Adelaide Oval which kick starts Gather Round.

McKay is coming off his best performance of 2023 against the Roos, booting four goals with 15 marks.

Friday’s win saw the Blues remain undefeated in first place on the ladder.

LYNCH FACES NERVOUS WAIT OVER BUMP

Elsewhere, Richmond’s Tom Lynch could be in hot water for a bump on Alex Keath that left the Dogs’ key defender subbed out with a concussion.

The incident in question took place in the opening quarter of Saturday afternoon’s game, with the Bulldogs up 19-7 at the time.

It is unlikely that Lynch’s bump would be deemed intentional conduct but that does not necessarily mean that he will escape without a ban.

Rather, the fact it left Keath concussed means it could trigger a one or two-game ban, should it be assessed as high contact and either medium or high impact.

The Tigers face the Swans in Gather Round next week and take on the Demons in a fortnight.
