Day finished the day even-par to remain tied for fifth spot on five-under, but could have had an even better result were it not for a late stumble.

His front nine was extremely impressive, carding birdies on the second and third holes.

A bogey on the eighth was countered by a birdie on the ninth, but it was a delightful chip shot on the 11th that got the patrons at Augusta up and about.

Only a few metres off the green, Day produced a delightful chip shot that rolled into the hole to secure a birdie.

After firing a birdie on the 13th, the Aussie star was nine-under par for the entire tournament and looking the goods.

Unfortunately, things quickly unravelled from there.

Day shot a double-bogey on the 15th, before a bogey on the 16th and 18th cost him dearly.

Adam Scott and Cameron Smith also finished even-par on the second round, but only made it through to the 10th and eighth hole respectively.

Smith made one of the shots of the day on the eighth when he found himself in the bunker after his opening drive.

The LIV Golf star smacked the ball out of the bunker and onto the grass just off the green, but the ball slowly rolled onto the green.

Smith made no errors on the putt as he scored an eagle to save his second round as he remains two-under for the tournament.

Min Woo Lee and Harrison Crowe made it further than Scott and Smith did in the second round, but both battled hard.

Lee is T70 after a three-over-par second round while Crowe is T61 thanks to a two-over-par day.
