Luka Doncic is finally getting help.
The Dallas Mavericks have taken a monumental swing before next week’s trade deadline, making a move for Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving.
The Nets, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, have traded Irving and Markieff Morris to the Mavericks for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2029 unprotected first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick and a 2029 second-round pick.

Speaking on Brian Windhorst’s podcast last week, Mavericks insider Tim MacMahon suggested that Finney-Smith was one player who was likely to feature in any potential trade involving Dallas.
“I know Kevin Durant has a lot of respect for Dorian Finney-Smith,” MacMahon said.
“He’s the kind of player that every star wants to play with. That 3-and-D, unselfish, guard multiple positions wing.”
Although MacMahon also touched on the risk involved in striking a deal for Irving, both given his off-court antics and the fact it would limit the Mavericks’ ability to make any other major moves to improve the roster in the future.
“But if Finney-Smith or Josh Green are involved in this deal, you’re probably not getting another big swing during the timeline when you need to get it right with Luka,” he said at the time.
“Kyrie is a massive talent, no question this is the kind of talent upgrade the Mavericks need but I can’t think of a riskier situation.”
