Adam Gilchrist has pointed out a missed no-ball could have cost the Heat victory in their implosion against the Hurricanes in a result that could rob the Thunder of a finals berth.
The Heat needed 10 off three balls when James Bazley hit a six off a Tim David full toss, which remarkably wasn’t called a no-ball.
That would have resulted in a free hit and the Heat needing four off three balls, but Brisbane eventually needed four off the last ball and lost, allowing the Hurricanes to jump the Thunder into fifth on the ladder.

“This is the one where they need 10 off three balls,” Gilchrist said on Fox Cricket.
“That gets hit for six, but no one questions whether this was a no-ball or not. There was no mention of it.
“If that was called as it was clearly over waist high, that is seven rather than six and you get an extra ball, so they would have needed four off three balls and Bazley feeling good about himself and a free hit as well.
“I was really surprised there was nothing made of that, but you can’t change the result now.
“But well done Hobart and for the moment they are in finals.”
Thunder skipper Chris Green called the missed no-ball call a debacle, before challenging his side to beat the Stars and qualify ahead of the Hurricanes.
“I caught the end of it in the changeroom and the debacle that was that no-ball,” Green said.
Freakish falling throw gets run out! | 00:55
“There has been plenty happening the last few nights with no-balls off spinners, so it was unfortunate for the Heat and fortunate for the Hurricanes.
“For us it is a practice knockout game before the finals, but if we don’t win tonight we probably don’t deserve to be in finals contention.”
