MAGPIES SET TO MAKE $105M MOVE?
One of the sagas of the summer window was Everton star Anthony Gordon going to Chelsea, but ultimately the winger stayed put at Goodison Park.
The Blues are reportedly in again for Gordon in January, but they could lose him from right under their noses by newly-minted Newcastle.
According to The Telegraph, talks between the Magpies and Everton have “intensified” in recent days and an agreement could be found before the weekend.
The Toffees slapped a $105m price tag on the 21-year-old, but it remains to be seen if that will be the final amount Newcastle will stump up should a deal go ahead.
Losing Gordon could be a killer blow to Everton’s survival hopes, but at the same time, could give the club’s new manager some funds to work with although there is precious little time left in the January window.
TOFFEES DEALT BITTER BLOW AS SPURS SET TO HIJACK DEAL
Speaking of Everton targets, the Merseyside outfit have looked close to signing Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma on loan.
The Dutch star even had a medical last weekend, but the deal has not been made official due to some paperwork needing to be completed.
Not having all the documents finalised could come back to bite, as The Athletic reports Tottenham Hotspur have made a last-gasp move to hijack the deal.
The report claims Danjuma has gone to Spurs for a medical, but nothing is confirmed just yet.
RACE FOR 19YO SUPERSTAR HEATS UP
It seems inevitable that teenage superstar Jude Bellingham will no longer be a Borussia Dortmund player at the end of the summer window.
The 19-year-old was one of England’s best in Qatar and has been in sensational form for his club side in this year’s Bundesliga campaign.
All of Europe’s biggest and best clubs are in the race for his signature, which could cost as much as nine figures.
But according to Sky in Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, one club is doing everything in their power to ensure Bellingham joins them for the foreseeable future.
“There are three targets for him – Real Madrid, Man City and Liverpool,” Plettenberg said.
“Liverpool are one of the favourites, and Jurgen Klopp is pushing, pushing, pushing for him and says he is his No 1 transfer target.
“Klopp hasn’t spoken to Bellingham personally yet, but the conversations have been held with people like Julian Ward. Now they just have to work out who is paying the money.”
BLUES TOLD TO STUMP UP $175M TO CONTINUE SEAGULLS RAID
As if Chelsea haven’t raided Brighton enough already this season.
Having signed Marc Cucurella and brought in former Seagulls boss Graham Potter, the Blues are reportedly in the mix for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea even made a recent offer of approximately $87m, but that was rejected without any negotiations by Brighton.
Instead, the Seagulls have told the powerbrokers at Stamford Bridge to stump up a whopping $175m, per The Times.
Such a figure would make Caicedo the most expensive non-forward player signed in the Premier League.
Although Chelsea may baulk at such an offer, new owner Todd Boehly has not been shy about splashing the cash since taking over.
