Megan Schutt snared her first five-wicket haul in a T20 international before Ellyse Perry smashed her way to an unbeaten 57 at the top of the order in an eight-wicket Australian win over Pakistan.
After a clean sweep over Pakistan in last week’s three-match ODI series, Australia’s women’s side once again asserted their dominance over their rivals at North Sydney Oval on Tuesday afternoon.
After losing the toss and being asked to bowl, Australia reduced Pakistan to 4-32 before bowling them out for 118.
Schutt was named player of the match after taking 5-15 from four overs.
They are the best figures of any Australian pace bowler, male or female, in a T20 international.
In the run chase, Perry was elevated to the top of the order due to a slight injury to Beth Mooney that was described as a “niggle” by team officials.
Perry responded in emphatic fashion by blasting 57 off 40 balls as Ash Gardner chipped in with 30 from 19 balls.
Australia reached Pakistan’s target in the 14th over.
