According to ESPN Stats and Info, LA became the first team win in a game where it lost a quarter by 30-plus points since the Boston Celtics against the Buffalo Braves in 1972.
Although the epic 25-point comeback wasn’t the biggest of a James team in his career. As per NBA journalist Tim Reynolds, James’ Heat in 2013 were down 27 at Cleveland and won, while James’ Cavaliers in 2017 trailed by 26 to Indiana and pulled out a victory.
The NBA world was left in awe by James’ heroics including Director calling him a “f***ing machine.”
James, who according to StatMuse, has the second-most points in the NBA since turning 38 on December 31, now needs 224 more to tie Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387) for the NBA’s all-time scorers record.
Elsewhere for the Lakers, Bryant also exploded for a career-best 31 points on 12-of-15 shooting with four threes, 14 rebounds and a block, and Schroder added 24 points on 10-of-10 free throw shooting with six rebounds and eight assists.
Anfernee Simons’ 31 points from seven triples led the Blazers and Damian Lillard chipped in 24 points and 10 assists.
The result saw the Lakers improve to 22-25 and jump the 21-25 Blazers to claim the West’s 12th seed as they prepare to welcome back Anthony Davis from injury.
