Jabeur scrapes through as clock ticks down to Williams-Tomljanovic clash

Tunisian fifth seed Ons Jabeur has recovered from a set down to beat American Shelby Rogers 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 and reach the last 16 of the US Open for the first time.

Veronika Kudermetova, the Russian 18th seed, had no such problems, strolling past Hungarian Dalma Galfi, 6-2, 6-0.

There is, however, only really one match in town on day five of the tournament: Australian Ajla Tomljanovic is set for a third-round showdown with Serena Williams from 9am (AEST.)

Australia’s top-ranked man, Alex de Minaur, seeded 18th, is in action against Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, while Nick Kyrgios will play unseeded American J.J. Wolf.

Elsewhere in the men’s draw, Andy Murray, the 2012 champion, is playing 13th-seeded Italian Matteo Berrettini.
