Khan drops bombshell over BBL future as ‘bad take’ ripped over CA furore

Adelaide Strikers superstar Rashid Khan revealed he will be “strongly considering” his future in the Big Bash League in the wake of Australia’s withdrawal from a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in the UAE.

Cricket Australia confirmed it would not go ahead with the series on Thursday afternoon in response to the Taliban’s treatment of women having consulted stakeholders and the Australian Government.

However, the decision did not go down well with the Afghanistan Cricket Board and several of Afghani players, including Khan.

The leg-spinner took to social media to share his frustration regarding the decision.

“I am really disappointed to hear that Australia have pulled out of the series to play us in March,” Khan wrote.

“I take great pride in representing my country and we have made great progress on the world stage. This decision from CA sets us back in that journey.

“If playing vs Afghanistan is so uncomfortable for Australia then I wouldn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable with my presence in the BBL.

“Therefore, I will be strongly considering my future in that competition.”

Several offered their support to Khan’s statement on social media.

However, not everyone saw eye-to-eye with Khan’s take on CA’s decision to back out of the ODI series against Afghanistan.

Khan’s threat to walk away from Australia’s T20 competition was echoed by fellow Afghanistan and Sydney Sixers bowler Naveen-ul-Haq, who also threatened to boycott the BBL.
