The clock struck midnight.

Georgia rolled to its second consecutive college football national championship with a brutal 65-7 victory over fairytale side TCU on Tuesday (AEDT).

It was the biggest blowout of a team ranked in the top three of the Associated Press poll in college football history, and the largest margin of victory in any bowl game ever.

That’s everywhere except quarterback, where former walk-on Stetson Bennett became the rare dual national champion signal-caller.

He’s the first ex-walk-on to achieve the feat since 1936.

Bennett matched Joe Burrow with the college football title game record of being responsible for 36 points, throwing for 304 yards and four touchdowns plus two rushing scores, before being pulled from the game early.

The Bulldogs barely even made the title game, relying on Ohio State missing a last-second field goal in their thrilling semi-final.

But a week later, they made sure there was no repeat of the New Year’s Eve thrill-ride, dominating the entire contest.
