Cummins faces major call as epic Khawaja feat, wild weather loom at SCG: LIVE

Australia skipper Pat Cummins may have to make a declaration call early as the ever-looming threat of rain looks set to interrupt the proceedings on Day 3 of the third Test against South Africa at the SCG.

The hosts will resume on 4/475 with Usman Khawaja (195*) and Matt Renshaw (5*) at the crease.

However, the pair might not get much time at the crease depending on when Cummins calls his troops back to the pavilion and send in South Africa to bat.

The visitors could also spend more time inside than out with the weather forecast for Friday making for grim reading.

Khawaja will be one player hoping to avoid an immediate declaration as he looks to break the 200-run mark for the first time in his Test career.

The 36-year-old smashed through his previous top score of 174, which he achieved against New Zealand in 2015 and doubled as his maiden Test century.

He needs only five runs to achieve an epic career-first, but may not get the chance depending on what captain Cummins elects to do.
