‘Weak c***’: Footy’s biggest feud erupts once again after bombshell text

Footy’s biggest feud has erupted once again, with Kane Cornes alleging former Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker called him a “weak c***” in a bombshell text message.

The duo have been rivals since their South Australian playing days, but off-field the feud has only exploded since Cornes’ retirement from the game and his shift into the media.

On Monday night, Cornes revealed the latest twist in the saga as he alleges Walker abused him via text as he and his boys sat waiting in a McDonalds drive-through.

“So I thought ‘you know what? The number’s there. I’m going to call it.’

“The boys thought this was hilarious, they are like: ‘Call in, call it, call it’. Had no idea who would pick up, whether they’d pick up.

“It’s the one and only.

“I don’t know what I’ve done, I would have thought at his age he may be more mature than that particularly with the record he’s had recently.

“Taylor Walker was busy on the phone.”

According to Walker’s social media, he and his wife had been attending a wedding over the weekend.

There’s been no love lost between former South Australian footy rivals, with the feud stemming back to early 2018 when Walker admitted he “giggled” at criticism of Cornes as a commentator.

Cornes then threatened to “out” Walker as the player sending him abusive texts before the then-Crows skipper took to social media to post: “Simple. This bloke can dish it out but can’t take it. Grow up and stop sooking!”

The following year Walker reignited the feud by poking fun at Cornes’ firefighting career, which saw Cornes fire back with: “Tex is only a hero on Twitter after he’s played a good game of footy”.

That jibe led to Walker publicly stating he “can’t stand” Cornes in a radio interview with Triple M.

“It wasn’t even funny,” Walker said at the time.

“I can’t say it on air.

“I can’t stand him … not many other people can either.”

The body shaming saga followed in 2020 when Cornes poked fun at what appeared to be an unflattering photo of Walker during the Covid-forced pre-season in May, as he compared Walker’s physique to Port’s Charlie Dixon.

“Have a look at that, what has Tex been doing?” he said on Nine.

“These are professional athletes, you can’t let those sorts of standards slip through.

“We can tell who’s been training in this period.”

Walker responded to that comment by labelling Cornes “sad”.

Speaking about the abusive text he received, allegedly from Walker, Cornes said it’s not the first time the ex-Crows skipper has fired shots to his phone.

“I’ve cross checked the number with a couple of people, and it’s definitely him,” he said on Monday night.

“He has pranked me before but he was smart enough to hide his number or restrict that his number was visible.”

Walker is yet to respond to the allegation.
