LIVERPOOL EYE NORWEGIAN STAR TO SOLVE MIDFIELD CRISIS
With Thiago, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alexander Oxlade-Chamberlain all sitting on the sideline with respective injuries, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate for midfield reinforcements.
It looks like the German will soon get his wish, as the Daily Mailreports the Reds are after Sheffield United star Sander Berge.
The Norwegian moved to the Blades from Belgian side Genk in January 2020 for $AUD37 million, but has a $57 million release clause.
Sheffield United no doubt would love to keep him at Brammall Lane as they look to return to the Premier League after two seasons away, but will a move to Anfield prove too tempting for player and club?
WING BACK WONDERLAND AS SPURS COMMENCE TALKS FOR BELGIAN ACE
There isn’t much in life Antonio Conte loves more than wing-backs.
The Italian could add yet another to his Spurs squad, as The Telegraph claims the London outfit is in talks with Atletico Madrid to sign Yannick Carrasco.
Carrasco began his career as a winger but is also comfortable as a wing-back on both flanks, an extremely desirable quality for Conte.
Spurs tried to bring the Belgian to the club on January deadline day but a deal could not be done.
The 28-year-old has a release clause of $87 million, but The Telegraph reports Atleti are asking for just $42 million.
CITY TURN TO DORTMUND STAR TO SOLVE DEPLETED DEFENSIVE STOCKS
Liverpool aren’t the only ones with several injuries to a key position on the field.
Manchester City is without centre-backs Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake due to injuries, but Pep Guardiola could have a new back-up plan arriving soon.
The Athletic reports City is close to agreeing a $29.7 million deal for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji.
Akanji is out of contract at the end of the season and does not look likely to ink an extension on his current deal.
THREE HORSE PL RACE FOR FORMER UTD TARGET
Manchester United were always going to go for either Ajax’s Antony or PSV’s Cody Gakpo, but not both.
Now that the Red Devils have got an agreement in place with Ajax for Antony, all is not lost for Gakpo’s Premier League dream.
Southampton had a $36 million bid rejected earlier in the week, as PSV brace for bigger bids from more clubs.
According to The Telegraph, Southampton will not be the only Premier League team in for Gakpo as Leeds and Everton look to make a late play for the 23-year-old.
PSV value the Dutch international at $65 million, but which team will be the first to bite?
