He’s done it again! History repeats as cricket world in disbelief at Aussie star’s ‘over from heaven’

History has repeated as Scott Boland emulated his 2021/2022 Ashes heroics with a three wicket maiden to have the West Indies reeling on day three at the Adelaide Oval.

Nearly a year after he took 6 for 7 on debut at the MCG, Boland did it again with the West Indies rather than England his prey on this occasion.

Boland came on at first change in the sixth over under lights and struck immediately to dismiss West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite caught behind with the first ball of his spell.

Shamarh Brooks could only last two balls before he was trapped lbw with Boland’s third ball for a duck.

That brought Jermaine Blackwood to the crease, but he could only stay out there for the final three balls of the over, the last of which saw Cameron Green snare a tough catch in the gully to send him packing for another duck.

The frantic start to Boland’s spell saw him with figures of 3-0 from one over and the West Indies went from 0 for 15 to 3 for 15 in the space of six balls in wild scenes.

“Taken, great catch and Boland has got three for none,” Brendon Julian said after Blackwood’s dismissal.

“Cam Green the big fella scooped it up nicely and they are all over him.

“Can you believe it. It has just turned around so quickly here. Cam Green and Scott Boland three in his first over. 3 for 0.”

Ian Smith marvelled at the fielding from Green in consecutive balls for setting up the third wicket of the over.

“There is so much to focus on here because it was the piece of fielding before that and it was Green who did it, that kept him on strike,” Smith said.

“That is absolutely brilliant cricket in its own right and then on top of it the big man pulls that off. That is sensational.

“What a five minutes of cricket for Australia. Top drawer. He’s the third in this over. It’s 3 for 15.”

Kerry O’Keeffe was in awe of the perfect Test cricket over that asked so much of the West Indies batsman with every delivery.

“He wouldn’t know what 3 for 20 is,” O’Keeffe said.

Lara v Khan – EPIC net session! | 11:33

“A triple wicket maiden and every ball asked a question. Three of them got wickets. Three of them produced false shots.

“That is the over from heaven from Scott Boland.”

Smith called on Boland to be sent to fine leg to get his reward from the crowd and they obliged.

“It is, you video that,” Smith said of O’Keeffe’s “over from heaven” remark.

“I hope he goes down to fine leg so the crowd can give him a good rousing reception.

“Look at them. It is not a packed house, but it might sound like it to him.”

Social media blew up with pundits and fans in disbelief at Boland’s superb opening over.
