Indian opener Ishan Kishan has rewritten the history books in Chattogram, becoming the youngest cricketer to score a double-century in men’s ODIs.
The 24-year-old plundered 210 (131) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium against Bangladesh on Saturday afternoon, guiding India towards a formidable first-innings total.
He reached the 200-run mark in just 126 deliveries, an all-time record in men’s ODIs, smashing 24 boundaries and 10 sixes during the brutal onslaught.
Kishan and Kohli, who scored a classy century himself, combined for a 290-run partnership for the second wicket, the seventh-largest stand in men’s ODI history.
The left-hander was eventually dismissed by Tigers paceman Taskin Ahmed in the 36th over, ending one of the most remarkable knocks in one-day cricket.
Veteran Indian broadcaster Harsha Bhogle tweeted: “When on song, there are few more fearless and breathtaking batters then Ishan Kishan.”
Meanwhile, Kohli now boasts more ODI centuries than former Australian captain Ricky Ponting; the only person ahead of him on the all-time list is Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar.
