Carlton and Adelaide small forward Eddie Betts recently played for Palmerston, lining up at Cazalys Arena in July.
“To have Gary and family here as part of the football community is a massive coup for the club, and so exciting for our NTFL competition,” the club said in a statement on its Facebook page.
Ablett’s appearance had been organised with Magpies junior and former premiership teammate at Geelong, Matthew Stokes.
Ablett called time on his AFL career at the close of 2020, retiring with two premierships, eight All-Australians and a total of six best and fairest awards from his 357 games for Geelong and Gold Coast.
