Hundreds of diehard Australian football fans gathered in the middle of the night to the famous location to watch the Socceroos battle Denmark in their World Cup clash.
Federation Square has been a hive of activity all throughout the World Cup, with Melburnians turning up in numbers for the 6am fixture against France as well as the 9pm game against Tunisia.
A sea of green and gold, mixed with some red thanks to several flares being ripped, filled out the precinct.
And although the phrase “absolute scenes” gets tossed around perhaps a bit too much these days, it’s the only way to describe the vibe at Federation Square.
