Cam Smith comes into the final round of the Australian PGA Championship with a three-stroke lead over China’s Yan Wei Liu — and the Brisbane native is hoping to secure his third Joe Kirkwood Cup.
Smith was frustrated after his third round which included six birdies and four bogies, but still managed to remain two-under the 71 par score.
“It’s obviously not what you want … I’d rather be six or seven ahead, but I felt as though I could have done that today really quite easily,” Smith told NCA Newswire.

“It’s just really frustrating. As this course gets firmer and faster, your angles into the greens and stuff like that have to be pretty spot on – that wasn’t quite there.”
Smith sits -11 after the first three rounds, while a number of Australian’s trail him including the Western Australian pairing of Min Woo Lee and Jason Scrivener, alongside Queensland duo Jake McLeod and Brad Kennedy who all sit -7.
Meanwhile former Masters champion Adam Scott’s 74 in the third round saw him drift 10 shots behind his countrymen, and any chances of winning have all but faded.
