Tempers flared as Patrick Beverley was ejected late in the Phoenix Suns’ 115-105 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday afternoon.
The Suns were leading 106-96 with just under four minutes on the clock when Devin Booker was called for a foul on Austin Reaves, having hit him in the face on a block attempt.
That foul, later upgraded to a flagrant one, left Reaves on the ground with both Booker and DeAndre Ayton standing on top of him — something Beverley took exception to.
Beverley went on to run in, pushing Ayton down to the ground as chaos ensued, with both teams coming together as the officials tried to de-escalate the situation.
“Pat needs to stop pushing people in the back,” Booker said. “Push them in the chest.”
Mikal Bridges and Devin Booker each scored 25 points while Anthony Davis had 37 points, 21 rebounds, five blocked shots, five steals and two assists to lead the road-winless Lakers, who were without injured LeBron James.
