Starting the final round of the Tour Championship at East Lake six shots off the lead, he chased down a faltering Scottie Scheffler to claim an epic one-shot win.
It proved to be a meltdown worth $A17.8 million to Scheffler, but given the high stakes nature of the tournament, there were expensive errors and lucrative plays across the board.

For example, Max Homa was lucky when he blasted his bunker shot on the 18th hole into the flag stick, and the ball came to a rest just four-feet from the hole.
Homa then drained the birdie putt to finish in a tie for fifth with Justin Thomas, rather than a three-way tie for sixth with Sepp Straka and Patrick Cantlay.
As such, Homa walks away with $A5 million instead of $A2,910,000 having drained his $A2 million putt.
