The Dragons don’t waste a minute after that early error from Ilias, they hit back with a try for themselves, which comes on the right edge from recalled youngster Tyrell Sloan.

Valentine Holmes sends the conversion too far right, and the Rabbitohs hold a narrow lead.

Uh oh, Lachlan Ilias perhaps lets his emotions get the better of him, and he gifts the Rabbitohs a penalty try.

South Sydney fullback Jye Gray is the lead runner with the ball in goal, after Tyrell Sloan knocks it backwards, and Ilias grabs Gray’s shirt and prevents him from chasing the ball and scoring a try.

Referee Ashley Klein sends it up as a penalty try, and bunker official Kasey Badger agrees.

Rabbitohs 6, Dragons 0 after 11 minutes

Both teams have gotten through their first few sets nicely, and we’re yet to see an error in this match.

But one thing that is noticeable is the lack of kick pressure on Dragons halfback Lachlan Ilias. He’s had plenty of time to kick on each occasion, which seems like a missed opportunity to apply pressure, considering Ilias is coming up against his old club and is still getting reps in after a leg injury last year.

The Dragons, on the other hand, have done a good job at applying pressure to Rabbitohs No. 7 Jamie Humphreys, who is also a rookie at this level.

Those $11 outsider odds? More like $101. Dominic Young outleaping Dylan Edwards – the safest of all fullbacks? He cleared tall buildings too actually.

No Sam Walker, Brandon Smith, Victor Radley, Spencer Leniu, Lindsay Collins and Nat Butcher on top of more than $4 million in off-season departures? No exaggerating those actually, which is exactly why no-one gave the Roosters a hope in hell against the four-time premiers.

And those that did, even though they’re lying, they certainly didn’t predict a 12-try, 38-32 shoot-out and one of the greatest upsets in their history.
