Thurman is a genuine boxing superstar; a former unified welterweight world champion who is destined to became a hall-of-famer. He’s also a world-class trash talker, which has made the build-up to the fight entertaining.

This is a big step up for Jarvis. Is he up to it? We’ll soon find out.

We’ll bring you every jab, uppercut and low blow from ringside.

Here’s a look at some of the (lopsided) action to date ..

Where are we at?

We’ve just witnessed Kirra Ruston defeat Tonga Tongotongo in their light-heavyweight showdown. Ruston knocked down his opponent late in the sixth round, the bell saved Tongotongo, but he couldn’t come out for the seventh round.

So here’s the order for the rest of the night …

Mateo Tapia v Sergei Vorobev (middleweight)

Michael Zerafa v Besir Ay (middleweight)

Keith Thurman v Brock Jarvis (super welterweight).

Is there a footballer in the house?

As ever, there is plenty of NRL talent watching from the expensive seats.

I’ve done a quick scan and can see Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker, Jack Wighton, Sean Keppie and Isaiah Tass, ensuring the Rabbitohs are well represented.

I don’t know them from a bar of soap, but it’s been pointed out to me that Brisbane AFL types Josh Dunkley and Charlie Cameron are also in attendance.

I’ll drop more celeb names as they come to hand.

‘One Time’ Thurman

Keith Thurman has some serious swagger.

This is a guy whose only defeat in a glittering career was a split-decision loss to the great Manny Pacquiao. His resume includes wins over Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia and in his last fight, he iced Mario Barrios.

He even has a quality nickname. ‘One Time’. Classy.

The big question is, at the age of 36 and after three years out of the ring, does Thurman still have it?

We are about to find out.

The Fenech factor

Jeff Fenech is not – repeat, not – in the corner of Brock Jarvis.

The Marrickville Mauler has had an on-again, off-again relationship as the trainer of Jarvis and their current status is off. Jarvis previously dated Fenech’s daughter, Kayla, who is now dating Newcastle Knights star Bradman Best.

Fenech and Jarvis apparently moved past the Kayla situation and began working together again, only for them to again split up. It kinda sounds like an episode of MAFS.

At the time of writing, Fenech is in da house, but won’t be in Jarvis’ corner.
