Poll: Who you got, then?

Salah goes wide!

There’s the first major chance of the game for Liverpool, teed up wonderfully for Mohammed Salah at the top of the box – it’s just wide of the target.

What a game this is already!

Spurs are looking good

Tottenham have definitely made the strong start – Son almost created another chance there but his ball into the six-yard box was met by Dominic Solanke who couldn’t quite divert it into the net. But they are applying huge pressure on Liverpool at the moment. Excellent, positive stuff.

Johnson on, Bentancur off

Yep, that change has been made – still no actual confirmation of what has happened to Bentancur but we have to assume some kind of head injury after a delay of that length. We hope he’s OK.

Meanwhile, the corner was taken by Spurs and easily collected by Alisson. Bit weird, I have to say, that we’re straight back into the action after something like that.

Bentancur is down

Rodrigo Bentancur is the player who has been receiving treatment on the field for the last several minutes following an incident from that corner. The broadcasters haven’t shown a replay so I have no idea what actually happened and nobody else seems to know either. Sounds like he’ll have to come off and Brennan Johnson may be the one to replace him, as he’s warming up.

Expect a good chunk of injury time before the break. There’s not been any play for almost five minutes.

Spurs go close!

Wow! Really good chance by Tottenham as Son Heung-min sends the ball back into the box from a corner – Radu Dragusin gets his foot on it and forces a terrific save by Alisson Becker! So it’ll be another corner… but first, the stretcher is coming on, a Spurs player is down… not another injury?!?

And we’re off

The match has begun. And the first couple of minutes have been end-to-end stuff, albeit without any chances at either end… yet. Tottenham’s high press, though, is threatening to do so already.

The commentator has mentioned Spurs haven’t played a 0-0 draw under Ange Postecoglou. I don’t think that’ll happen today.

Kick-off is not far away

The teams are about to walk out. The cameras are panning to the stands. It sounds loud at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Only a few minutes away from play.

Angriest I have ever been: Postecoglou fuming over handball controversy

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou described himself as being angrier than at any other point of his career following what he believed was an “unfair” 10th English Premier League defeat of the season, falling 2-1 to Newcastle United.

Postecoglou was furious that Anthony Gordon’s sixth-minute equaliser was allowed to stand for Newcastle, following a handball by Joelinton that went unpunished.

Along with his entire backroom staff, Postecoglou remonstrated wildly against the decision to allow Gordon’s goal to stand. He had barely calmed down when he entered the post-match press conference a couple of hours later.

Postecoglou refused to go into detail over the incident and motioned to leave the press conference when the subject was returned to, but he clearly felt Gordon’s goal should have been disallowed.

“I’m just really, really angry, the angriest I think I have ever been in my career that they were denied the right rewards for a fantastic performance,” Postecoglou said.

Team news: A new recruit starts for Spurs

So here’s the Tottenham XI named by Ange Postecoglou. He’s made four changes to the side that fell 2-1 to Newcastle in the Premier League last start – and as speculated, it’s a debut straight away for new recruit Antonin Kinsky, who was signed only a few days ago from Czech outfit Slavia Prague. There’s big wraps on the 21-year-old while there’s another new face on the bench in the form of Yang Min-hyeok, who has arrived at Spurs straight out of the South Korean league with Gangwon FC. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur comes into midfield, where Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison are suspended.

And here’s the Liverpool team. Arne Slot has also made four changes from their last outing; have a look at the strength of that bench.
