Australia v India third Test LIVE updates: Aussies searching for improbable victory at Gabba

Can Australia win today?

This was what our reporter Tom Decent had to say last night.

“A huge blow for Australia’s chance of victory there. Can’t see a world where they win from here. I don’t think Australia would even give India a sniff of victory. My guess is Australia might just try and bat the day tomorrow and put as many overs into India’s bowlers as possible. Particularly given they are a man down with Hazlewood injured. Nathan McSweeney with a sigh of relief he didn’t have to bat against Bumrah tonight. Up to 25mm of rain forecast in Brisbane tomorrow, so could be taken out of their hands anyway.”

It’s not raining

The good news is there’s no rain right now so there’s hope we can start on time at 9:50 (AEST) or 10:50 (AEDT) – but who knows after the run we’ve had in Brisbane this game.

India will resume on 9/252, a deficit of 193 runs, with numbers 10 and 11 Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep at the crease.

Good morning

Hello everybody, yep, this Test is still going on.

Welcome to our coverage of day five of the third Test.

Australia are searching for an unlikely victory at the Gabba. Actually, make that an improbable victory. The hosts have it all to do after India avoided the follow-on last night.

The forecast is again for rain, with a possible storm. Today, the bureau are predicting anywhere between two to 30 millimetres – nice of them to keep it at such a narrow range.
