Transfer Talk: Madrid, Arsenal eye Brazil starlet Vitor Reis

The transfer window might be shut across Europe’s top five leagues, but the rumour mill keeps on turning! Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Madrid, Arsenal look to Palmeiras star Reis

Real Madrid and Arsenal are interested in a move for Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis, according to the Athletic.

It is reported that both clubs have made enquiries with the 18-year-old’s club and representatives ahead of a potential formal approach, though they could face competition from Liverpool, Chelsea, and Barcelona.

Reis, who has captained Brazil at under-17 level on 12 occasions, signed a new contract with the Alviverde in the summer that secures his future until December 2028, and it is believed that the Brazilian Serie A side are yet to set a valuation amid plans to keep him until after the 2025 Club World Cup. A release clause in his deal could be activated with an offer worth €100 million.

He has made 11 league appearances this season, and came on as a substitute as Palmeiras secured a 2-1 league win over Atletico Mineiro on Saturday.

PAPER GOSSIP

– A move for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo is being considered by Liverpool, reports Team Talk. The Reds are reported to see the 25-year-old as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah, whose contract situation remains unresolved at Anfield. Scouts are said to have made “regular checks” on Mbeumo’s progress with the Bees, though Arsenal and Newcastle United are also watching his situation closely.

Manchester United are exploring options to move on centre-back Harry Maguire in January, according to Football Insider. The 31-year-old entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford in the summer, and it is said that the Red Devils are keen not to lose him on a free transfer. Maguire was previously on the radar of West Ham United, but he wasn’t willing to take a salary reduction from his £190,000-per-week contract to join them.

– Talks over a new contract between FC Porto and the representatives of midfielder Alan Varela are set to take place, says Cesar Luis Merlo. The Portuguese Primeira Liga side are reported to be preparing to hand the 23-year-old a salary increase on an extension that will secure his future until the summer of 2028. Varela was linked with Liverpool in the summer.

Juventus are keeping tabs on a quartet of players from RB Leipzig, according to Calciomercato. Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is reported to have watched striker Benjamin Sesko (21), attacking midfielder Xavi Simons (21), winger Antonio Nusa (19) and centre-back Castello Lukeba (20) of late, with the Bianconeri exploring potential transfer options in the next two transfer windows. Sesko is believed to be top of their wishlist.

– Manchester United are looking to sign midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and winger Amad Diallo to new deals, reports Fabrizio Romano. Mainoo, 19, and Diallo, 22, have established themselves as regulars in the Premier League of late, having both featured in all six matches so far this season, and it looks as though the Red Devils want to ensure they remain a long-term part of the club’s project.
