‘Completely broken’: Football’s $886m megastar eyes stunning divorce

Football megastar Kylian Mbappe wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain again with his relationship with the club now ‘completely broken’, according to reports.

Mbappe’s stay in the French capital has been an unsettled one, particularly amid interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid, who unsuccessfully bid £154 million ($A269m) to capture the forward in the summer.

Mbappe made no secret of his desire to play for Real, but eventually said he was happy to stay in Paris after securing one of sport’s most lucrative contract extensions, said to be worth £507 million ($A886m) over three years.

His contentment, however, didn’t last long, according to Spanish publication Marca.

Sources familiar with Mbappe’s situation at PSG told the publication that the relationship is now beyond repair — and the Frenchman wants to leave in January.

It follows a report by French network RMC Sport that Mbappe was eyeing the exit door once again.

According to Marca, PSG is now open to letting Mbappe leave, but only if a list of demands are met.

Reportedly among that list is that Mbappe cannot be sold to Real, leaving Liverpool in the box seat, should it be able to solve the complicated financial equation involved in signing the World Cup winner.

Nonetheless, the club has moved to publicly deny Mbappe’s unrest, insisting that its prized possession is going nowhere.

The club’s sporting director Luis Campos stepped into the swirl of rumours around the star striker when he addressed the media on Tuesday.

“I am with Kylian Mbappe every day, he has never talked to me about leaving in January,” Campos told French TV station Canal Plus before the kick-off of the Champions League game against Benfica in Paris.

Campos dismissed suggestions that the player is unsettled.

“It’s not a statement from the player, it’s (from the press), and to have such information before a match like this is very serious. That’s why I’m here, to deny and say clearly that Kylian Mbappe has never spoken to me or to the president (Nasser Al-Khelaifi) to leave PSG in January.”

After PSG persuaded Mbappe to stay, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said the player was left “confused” after being put under intense “political and economic pressure”.

Mbappe’s form so far this season his form has been erratic while he has openly criticised the tactics of coach Christophe Galtier.
