Coach Mal Meninga confirmed his squad on Tuesday night with James Tedesco to also make his captaincy debut.

The Panthers and Eels players will not feature in this game, with Meninga opting to rest the grand finalists for the opener.

That means Daly Cherry-Evans gets first shot at halfback, while Cameron Murray will play in his preferred position at lock.

Meninga has also followed Queensland blueprint of a one-two punch at hooker with Ben Hunt to start and Harry Grant to come off the bench.
